Teams
Saltus Grammar School is a high achieving co-educational, independent day school educating students between the ages of 4 and 18. It is the premier independent school in Bermuda and enjoys an excellent reputation in the international community. The school is located in the capital of Bermuda, Hamilton.
Saltus is proud of the rich diversity of their school community. 65% of their students are Bermudian; 35% are from the international community which (through international finance, insurance, trust management and tourism) forms a central part of the Bermudian economy.
Samuel Saltus Descendant of Richard Norwood (1622)
Samuel Saltus, after whom the school is named, was a descendant of Richard Norwood who first surveyed the Bermuda Islands in 1622. At his death in 1880 Saltus left a bequest in his will for the founding of a boys' school, but it was not until 6th February, 1888 that Saltus Grammar School first opened its doors in the Pembroke Sunday School Building at the corner of North and Angle Streets in Hamilton, with thirty-five students enrolled.
In 1893, the School moved to “Woodlands,” an historic house which still serves as the heart of the current main campus.
Saltus Secondary Rugby
Saltus Senior School offers 53 different athletic teams throughout the school year including rugby. The boys play U18, U16 against local teams Bermuda Institute and Cedar Brook Academy.
Saltus: Institution Proud Traditions
"Saltus is not an ordinary place. It is an institution proud of its traditions, proud of its students and their accomplishments, proud of its faculty and their professionalism and proud of its graduates and their leadership in society."
- Ted Staunton, Head of School
