2016 Bowl Series: AIC 26 v Iona College 7
The first match of the @UBowlSeries featured Iona College, the host school, versus three-time D1AA ECRC Champion American International College. Iona put it to the champions in the first half taking a 7-5 lead into the turn. In the end it was the Yellow Jackets by a margin of 26-7.
Iona earned the early first half lead against AIC. The Gaels went into the locker room protecting a 7-5 lead thanks to a try by All-Conference center Mike Scarcella that was successfully converted by freshman Santi Mascolo.
The 21 unanswered second half points by AIC were hard earned. An unconverted try put AIC ahead by five points with just ten minutes left to play, but late tries were awarded to the Yellow Jackets down the stretch and allowed them to celebrate a 26-7 victory. The Gauls proved a worthy opponent and the match was a great start to the matches at the 2016 Bowl Series.
